Have YOU Ever Been Treated Like Royalty?

Elena, Founder of SBR

I knew that SBR events were good... I didn't realize HOW good until last week when I attended my very first one!

Oh, you read the descriptions (though they missed telling us they provided dinner too last week!) and you see the pretty pictures...

What you DON'T realize is all that you actually get OUT of a Scrapbook Royalty Event.

If you are anywhere near an event, have the time and the means to go, DO IT!

I had a chance last Saturday when I drove down to Operation Showers of Appreciation Crop, Vista CA.

What a great charity. Kimberly Felshaw started this a couple of years ago to assist military families expecting a child.

"They host baby showers and help pregnant miliary families
with supplies to get them started." ~from Elena's blog

Elena & Kimberly demo the "Dick & Jane" quilt

OH, the picture reminds me, there is Another Fun Way to help OSOA thru SBR - pick up a chance to win the quilt in the picture. Details on the site when you click on the link (above).

Anyway, there were goodies at my table when I got there (and they were very NICE goodies too!). They had munchies & drinks right from the start and just kept them coming all day long!

If you go away hungry, it's your own d#@m fault!

They kicked things off with a class by Leah Fung. I know of her from the magazine Scrapooks, Etc. and the class was fabulous. Leah is so enthusiastic and cheerful. And she explains the process so very well, making time to come around to individuals who need extra help.

All That Energy! Leah Fung

All the materials for Leah's class were donated by Making Memories and there were A LOT of them! I saw things I never even knew existed before.

It was a wonderful way to get started at a crop.

I'm wondering if that is why I felt more productive than usual at a 12 hour crop last week... of course I had a LIST to work from too! :)

After the class, I played around with decorating the very cool photo banner taught by Leah. And I got some work done on the projects I brought with me too.

One of the best things you get out of an event like this is that you meet all sorts of people you didn't know before. And when you meet new people, you always get some new ideas from being around them.
The Lovely Ladies at My Table!
There was a Silent Auction and lemme tell you! There were some fabulous items for auction on those tables.

Beauties All! Our Very Own Elena & Sheila with the young ladies

Patricia, channeling a Fairy

And the BEAUTY! Two very lovely young girls were all dressed up, they greeted us and participated in the class and provided beautiful examples of great young people giving of their time for a great cause. The Fairy Flybys were carried out by a volunteer from the group: Patricia and we got some delicious buttons from Blumenthal.

It's almost overwhelming - in a very good way!

Pink Pineapple Scrapbooks was the host store and a very cute one too (another 'first' for me!). Even the bathroom was neat! I did a little shopping (a % of the store sales were donated to OSOA too!) I wish I could have found more of the things I was looking for there, I would have bought them too!

I had more pictures, they were pretty fuzzy so the best ones made it in this post for you!

There are a LOT of perks when you attend a Scrapbook Royalty event.

At THIS event, there were goodies when I walked in, a Fairy Flyby, food galore, lots of space on which to crop, a well lit area and beautiful 'Royal' decor. The AC that day was very welcome! I had time to work on projects and I met some lovely new people, had a chance to give to a wonderful charity in so many ways and I had a whole store to shop from!

Part of The 'Royal' Decor - so fun

Why don't YOU come out for The Royal Treatment!?! You'll be glad you did!

Scrapbook Royalty is hosting a Wizard of Oz themed event that in San Diego on March 20, 2010. Its going to be amazing and so much fun! If you are a crafter, you will be dying to join us!

Here are the details:

Royalty Over the Rainbow,
A Inspirational Retreat for Charity

This event is going to be all about INSPIRATION and REWARD. The theme as you might have guessed is based on the Wizard of Oz. You will be “following the yellow brick road” and finding many treasures. You might find courage, through your efforts to fundraise, and you might find your heart as you spend 2 days with wonderful charitable people being rewarded for your efforts, and you might find your brain! Ha ha! I know I put mine here somewhere! Or you just might find your way home in a beautiful Wizard of Oz inspired project created for you by 5 Celebrity Designers all donating their time and creativity to reward you for selflessly giving.

We have not finalized all of the details but here is what we have so far:

Date: March 20, 2010 9am till March 21, 6pm
Location: San Dieguito Boys & Girls Club Solana Beach Branch
The Charities: Cancer Coping Center and San Dieguito Boys & Girls Club Solana Beach Branch

We are only taking 54 participants for this event.
This event is going to sell out and you do not want to miss it!

Registration opens to the public at 8 am October 1, 2009

Now what do you have to do to attend? The registration fee is set at $100 or two payments of $55. You are required to raise a minimum of $500 to attend.

Let me break it down for you:

You will have 5 months and 20 days (171 days) to raise this money and we will help you! There are a ton of ideas on the website but if you choose to, you can save the money yourself. You only need to save $3 a day or $21 a week to reach this goal. What could you cut out of your life that costs you that amount? Make the commitment and make a huge difference in the life of someone less fortunate than you.

Ask 10 people for $25 that’s $250 your half way there.
Host a garage sale- push your stuff out your door and watch the donations add up.
Give up coffee shop coffee!!! Bring your own coffee to work… this will get you there fast!

I know times are hard, this economy is hitting us all, believe me, I know. Now is the time that we need to give a little more. Those people that needed help before, need help even more now. They have lost jobs, lost homes, dignity, the list goes on.

If we band together like the Dorothy, The Tin Man, The Scarecrow and The Cowardly Lion together we can reach a goal of raising $30,000 for these very worthy charities.

I am so excited for those who are able to be a part of this momentous event!

Lose Weight, Fight Hunger

Weight Watchers is starting their Lose For Good Campaign again this fall -- get healthy and help fight hunger.

Every pound you lose equals a world of good

From August 30 through October 17 Weight Watchers will donate up to $1 million to feed children and families who need it. Learn more on the Lose For Good website.

I'll be participating so let's cheer each other along and do a world of good!

Wanna do your own food drive to fight hunger in your area? Here are some ideas on how to collect food and tie it to crafting:

  • Host a crop at your house. Ask participants to each bring a canned good to your crop.
  • Ask your local scrapbook or crafting store if you can set up a food donation box in their store. They can promote your food drive via their website and newsletter.
  • Set up a swap box at your local scrapbook store, a retreat, or at your own crop night--crafters can "purchase" items from the swap box with a canned food item.
  • For more ideas, check out Scrapbook Royalty's Feeding Our Communities effort, in conjunction with the Fiskateers, earlier this year.
Just passing along a little charity info for ya!

Help Us Win $10K from The Christie Cookie

The Christie Cookie is giving away $25,000 split among three top charities!! They are having a contest and we NEED YOUR HELP to win!!

Go HERE to nominate Scrapbook Royalty to win the $10,000 first prize!!

We can certainly use this money to help us raise money for other worthy causes. We need a new laptop to use at events (ours is falling apart), our storage facility fees need paying, we need shelving for our storage center, and we'd love to hire someone to revamp our website and registration database as well as an accountant. This money could certainly free us up to do more on the charity side of things (versus all that admin stuff) as well as help us get some of the professional help we've been seeking!!

To nominate Scrapbook Royalty, go HERE and enter in the following:

CHARITY NAME: Scrapbook Royalty
CHARITY CITY: San Diego
CHARITY STATE: California
CHARITY CONTACT NAME: Elena Etcheverry

Check The Christie Cookie out on Facebook: http://www.facebook.com/pages/The-Christie-Cookie/195310855155

The contest deadline is October 15, 2009 so spread the word to friends, family, and fellow charity minded crafters to help us win the prize. Thank you in advance!!

It's Elena, back from CHA and the World's Largest Crop Attempt! I have so much to post and share about the trip and crop but am finding that I really need to share something else first....

I posted about this art doll on my blog. I will put the less emotional version on here...

Blessings and Hope

This is what I am filled with because I received the most amazing book in the mail today.
You can help fight Ovarian Cancer by purchasing raffle tickets for $5 each or 6 for $20.

You can help fight Ovarian Cancer by purchasing your own copy of this little book $25.95 or $34.95 for the hard cover.

YOU CAN WIN A COPY OF THIS AMAZING BOOK...

BW Crafts Contest Winners Almost...

...Here but not yet. We're still waiting to hear back from a couple of stores as to which Black, White, and Crafts All Over Projects that YOU created are their FAVORITES! This week many of the stores, including our own Elena and some of the SBR Committee, are off to Florida to enjoy the Craft and Hobby Association's big summer show. So stay tuned for the announcement about the winners in our newsletter and here on the blog next week. In the meantime, enjoy the slideshow of entires above.

Why is Scrapbook Royalty at CHA? In TWO SHORT DAYS we will be helping put on the WORLD'S LARGEST CROP!! Guiness World Book of Records will be there to certify the attempt at beinga part of scrapbooking history. I am totally jealous of all the ladies there cropping and raising money for the Leeza Gibbons Foundation. Take lots of photos, raise lots of money, and most of all have a royal good time! I can't wait to see all the photos when they return home.

Now on eBay!

Did you know that you can support
Scrapbook Royalty when you sell on eBay!
It's true!

Simply go to the Scrapbook Royalty Page on eBay and list your item for sale. You can choose to donate 10%-100% of the final selling price of your item. eBay will then refund your listing fee! It's all part of the eBay Giving Works Program.

Ebay sellers have raised over $124,000,000 since eBay Giving Works began in 2003!

I recently listed some Polly Pocket dolls on ebay and am giving 10% of the final sale price to Scrapbook Royalty. Check out my listing to see what yours can look like. Then go clean out your closet and see what you can find to help raise money to support SBR! Listing my item took all of 10 minutes, from taking the photo to typing it up on the eBay website. PLUS, once your item is listed, you can let all your friends on Facebook know about it through eBay's connection with Facebook.

Once you've listed your item to benefit Scrapbook Royalty, let us know by posting a comment on this blog post. Don't forget to include a link to your item. Listing multiple items? Post multiple comments for more chances to win! I'll do a drawing from all the comments here and choose one winner to receive a Prima prize pack from me and Scrapbook Royalty! Be sure to post your links in the comments section on this blog post by August 15th to be in the drawing.

Together we can combat clutter and raise some funds to help Scrapbook Royalty continue to do chairtable works for other charities.

Happy Bidding!

xoxo, Jennifer Priest
