A Place To Bark

Last year when we attended ConvenZioNE in Pleasanton, California we helped to raise funds for A Place To Bark, an animal rescue mission. Reknowned artist Claudine Hellmuth recently posted on her blog a call to action to help A Place To Bark.

Cards for Troops Update!!!

I am happy to announce have received 22 packages from all over the country and have a total of 351 cards so far! I know a lot of people wait till the last minute so I am hoping we will get more. Every day I get at least one package in the mail so the count will go up...I have been getting packages in the mail every day!

Here is a photo of what I have so far. I tried to take a picture of at least one card out of each group but might have missed some. i will upload those this afternoon...

Some guidelines:

  • It is very helpful if you send envelopes with your cards please. Those of you that did not, its ok, I will be buying some to add and I am still so grateful for your beautiful creations!
  • buy the envelopes first so you know what size to make your card
  • Stick the back of the card into the envelope when you send it to me so they can see the card front without having to take the card out and the card and envelope will not get separated.

or use clear envelopes,

or put the envelope and card in a clear bag.

  • use a standard size envelope, letter or card, 6x6 and odd sizes are more expensive to send.
  • keep the bulk down. buttons and charms dont always ship that well.

That's it for now... Send cards to:

Sometimes you just get lucky!

I saw this cool silk screening machine at CHA winter called the YuDu and I really wanted to try to get one donated for SBR. I didnt have any luck at the show and even tried submitting a donation request after but no luck. It would be so great to have one so that at events we could use that instead of paying to have tshirts silk screened. It just would be more cost effective and we could raise more money! So then I was blog bouncing and found Erin. http://erinbassett.typepad.com/. Besides being totally amazingly crafty, she is also totally a YuDu expert and it turns out I know her! small
scrapbooking world. I actually was at CKU with a few years ago!!

Anyway... Erin called her contact at Provocraft and she was able to hook me up! So I will hopefully be getting one soon for SBR and I will be able to make some awesome designs for event tshirts! I can't wait!

Thank you Erin! You rock!

Mother's Day and Father's Day Cards for Troops... plus and early Christmas!

Mother's & Father's Day Cards for the Troops

Scrapbook Royalty along with The Fiskateer Charity Fiskamittee has taken up noble causes for which we help raise money and collect donations. There are so many worthy causes to support in different ways our current effort is to collect handmade Mother's & Father's Day cards to send to the military men and women overseas. We want them to receive them in time for them to send home to their loved ones.

  1. Nominate a Unit to Receive Cards

  2. Mother's & Father's Day Greeting Cards for Troops

***Nominate a Unit to Receive Cards***

You can contact us at info@scrapbookroyalty.org to nominate a unit overseas. We need an address to ship and US contact information, how many people are in their unit and we will fill as many requests as possible. Please note this will be first come first served.

***Greeting Cards for Troops***

This year we have decided to collect Mother's Day and Father's Day cards for our Cards for Troops Campaign!! We have been very successful for the past two years in collecting handmade Holiday greeting cards from around the country and donating them to units that make sure these cards reach actual military serving overseas. They were so appreciative to have these cards to write in and send messages home to family and friends during the holidays. So we would like to do the same thing with Mother's Day and Father's Day cards.

Below are some photos of the 3000 cards we recieved this past holiday season.

Last year's cards.

Christmas cards.

So once again and we need your help! We will get these cards distributed to the hard working men and women overseas defending our country. We are sending the cards directly to the troops ourselves so that gives us a bit more time to get them made and sent over. A simple handmade card, blank inside, will do just perfectly. We need to recieve the cards with envelopes by March 31st, so we have time to mail them to the units over seas and they will have time to mail them home.

Here are some tips for getting a few cards made for the soldiers:

  • Create a few extra cards as you make your own--for example, for every 3 cards you make for yourself, make one card to donate.
  • Use your scraps from old layouts and cards (cuz I know you're still saving them) to create a few cards. This way you can also take part in some guilt free shopping afterwards when you buy this year's hottest papers.
  • Go buy that new paper and just have fun creating some cards for the soldiers with it.
  • Ask your friends to help. If you're having a crop or go to one at a store, ask everyone to take 5 minutes to create one card.
  • Have the kids help. Scout troops love doing these kinds of activities. Set up the supplies assembly line style and get everyone to pitch in.
  • Buy a kit--some stores and consultants sell card kits--just buy one and assemble all the cards and send them to us for the troops.
  • Take a class. Ask the instructor if you can buy extra cards or kits to make the assembly easy.
  • If you are a consultant hold a card-making party! Have your guests make one card for themselves and one for the troops as part of your demonstration.

Once you've created your cards, you can send your handmade cards directly to:
