Think you're prepared for an earthquake? Think again.
Participate in The Great Southern California Shake Out tomorrow. To register, click here.
Many Californians live near the San Andreas fault line. I live RIGHT next to it. The drill is supposed to get our agencies, emergency services, businesses, schools, and residents prepared to react to a 7.8 magnitude quake centered on the San Andreas fault, that is anticipated to last 2 to 3 minutes. The 1994 Northridge Earthquake only lasted 7 seven seconds. And you remember the aftermath from that quake. So imagine what will happen if the shaking were to last 20 to 30 times longer as the USGS predicts the next big California Quake will last?
What can you do to prepare?
- Check out the ShakeOut website.
- Register to participate.
- Prepare your emergency kit.
- Check for possible danger zones in your home, such as objects that might fall.
- Find out what families can do to participate.
There is still time to prepare. We NEVER know when an earthquake will hit so NOW is the best time to prepare. Visit my PERSONAL SHAKE OUT PAGE if you want to join. If you want me to send you an invitation to join in this effort, please send me an email at jennifer@scrapbookroyalty.com or leave a comment here.
