Scrapbook Royalty will be at Desert Scrappers Retreats this weekend!

Scrapbook Royalty is collecting canned food at Desert Scrappers Retreats!!!

Jennifer Priest will be at Desert Scrappers Retreats selling tote hooks and aprons, teaching classes and make n takes, selling raffle tickets and collecting food for charity.

Right now Scrapbook Royalty has partnered with Fiskateers to collect canned food for the homeless and those in need. We always do a raffle to benefit charity at Laura's retreats (thanks Laura!) so this time I am offering one raffle ticket for every 3 cans or boxes of nonperishable food you bring to me at the retreat to donate. If you bring 10 cans, you'll receive a goodie bag! For example, bring 20 cans of food and get 6 raffle tickets and two goodie bags.

We'll also be selling raffle tickets in the traditional sense: $2 per ticket or 20 tickets for $20. The proceeds from the two raffles I am doing will be split equally between Scrapbook Royalty and the American Diabetes Association. Diabetes is a disease that has affected nearly every member of my family. Scrapbook Royalty has yet to help a charity regarding this disease so this is our opportunity to make a difference for yet another worthy cause.

Here's a checklist for the retreat:

  • Bring Canned Food. Get a raffle ticket for every 3 cans, goodie bag for every 10 cans.
  • Bring $ for Raffle Tickets. $2 per ticket or 20 tickets for $20.
  • Shop for Scrapbook Royalty loot: and help support our charity. I'll have tote hooks and aprons at the Hydrangea Hippo booth.
  • Shop at Hydrangea Hippo. Kits are Buy Two Get One free, lots of ribbon, stick pins, banner kits, grab bags, and more.
  • Sign Up for Classes. Check out this post for the Paypal buttons and class pics and descriptions. Get a goodie bag for signing up by May 28 and paying online through Paypal.
  • Have fun!

They're Grrrrrreat!!

I remember as a kid I loved Frosted Flakes. It was always a race to see if I could eat my whole bowl fast enough to not let the flakes get mushy!

Now, you know we love to tell you about what grrrrreat things are going on in the world of giving. Part of our mission is to create opportunities for crafters to give...

Kellogg's Frosted Flakes has a program called the Earn Your Stripes (EYS) field renovation program thats aimed to renovate neighborhood sports fields across the U.S. Thousands of fields have been nominated some with as many as 700,000 supporters! Those fields have now been narrowed down to 100 finalists and your vote will help determine the winning fields. The semifinalist fields were chosen based on the feasibility of the field makeover, the location and age of the field, how often it gets used, how many events take place, what teams use it, the number of other athletic fields in the community, the demand, condition, and the impact a field renovation would have on the community.

So... if you could please visit the Frosted Flakes website and vote for your favorite "field story" you would be helping a communities dreams come true!

Do you know CPR?

We are not just about raising money we are also about raising awareness so here is some awareness comin' your way!

Scrapbook Royalty recieved an American Heart Association CPR anytime kit courtesy of Mom Central . This kit is amazing and comes with:

  • A personal, inflatable CPR manikin
  • CPR Skills Practice DVD
  • An American Heart Association Heartsaver AED Student Workbook
  • Heartsaver AED Anywhere software
  • Pocket mask and non-latex gloves

It is seriously like having a CPR class in your own home! Super easy to follow along and really really important!

    Did you know....
  • Almost 80 percent of out-of-hospital cardiac arrests occur at home and are witnessed by a family member
  • Only 6.4 percent of sudden cardiac arrest victims survive because the vast majority of those witnessing the arrest are people who do not know how to perform CPR

This is important! Take a moment to visit the website and educate yourself. You could save a life!

A much needed donation...

Miss Vicky of Cut-It-Up has generously donated 5 industrial shelving units, 6 pink grid walls, and a ton of collage page kits. She has been an incredible supporter of SBR and donated tons and tons of stuff to our cause. We can't thank you enough!

Vicky hosts retreats in her little town of Dutch Flat, CA. Its a historic mining town that will melt your heart. To see some photos of Miss Vicky's Place, visit our Founder, Elena's Blog, She just drove down with Miss Vicky to transport the above mentioned shelving. Not only did Vicky donate it, she also drove it down! What a huge heart!

Scrapbook Royalty at Prom

CHECK OUT MY PROM DATES!
Yes, there was Royalty at the Friends of Scott Prom last Friday night. 150 kids and tons of volunteers gathered at the Hall of Champions in Balboa Park, California for "A Night of a Thousand Stars" This prom is for children ages 11-19 who have battled or are battling cancer. On this night, they are not sick, they are just kids going to a milestone event in a young person's life. Some of these kids are too sick to go to their own prom, or embarrassed and some sadly do not live to go to their prom. That is what makes this so special and such a worthy cause. SBR volunteers Dawn T, Jennifer T, Jessica P, Julie M and Elena decorated 200 goodie bags for these courageous kids and their dates. It is a major event with food, entertainment and lots of laughs!

There was even an 80's style dance-off with some really talented dancers!

Jennifer T, Julie M, and Elena attended the prom to pass out the goodie bags. One thank you from one of these brave kids makes all the work worth it
How do you thank Sponsors? Tell every one about them!!
FloraCraft donated 200 awesome styrofoam stars for us to alter for the goody bags! We can't do this without generous companies like FloraCraft.

Eliot Raffit Ribbons

Hello Charitable Crafters! Elena here, I got a call the other day from another wonderful company that wants to become a sponsor. Eliot, the owner was very curious about all things Scrapbook Royalty and after I explained what we do, he offered to send us some ribbon and to promote us at the New York Stationary Show where he will be speaking. He really loved that what we do is not just for one charity but for all causes that want our help. After I got off the phone with him, I got an email saying that he sent us a box of 1000 yards of raffia. Well, the box arrived and it is amazing. I will photograph and post tomorrow.

The online website is a must to explore. http://www.raffit.com/default.asp Just beautiful! Scrapbook Royalty's proven track record is really gaining recognition and I am so proud to be a part of it!

Look we did yesterday!

For the Friends of Scott Prom for Kids with Cancer

Last year we made 150 frames for the goody bags at the Friends of Scott Prom. This year we are making ornaments. This is for teenagers with cancer who may not be able to go to their own prom.
I know it is sad to hear but some of them are going through chemo and bloated or bald, some of them are hospitalized and some of them don't live to see a prom.
I love being a part of this very moving very special event. So Floracraft donated 216 Styrofoam stars and a case of diamond dust and we are making ornaments that the kids can keep as souvenirs.

Here is an unfinished sample...

Jennifer T, Dawn T, Julie and I are pounding out rosettes, glittering, tying ribbons and as you can see Julie and I painted till we were literally high yesterday. I did have a headache afterwards. Thank you to Mira Mesa Self Storage for letting us use one of the empty storage units for painting out of the wind :)

and look what else arrived...

can't wait to try it!

Scrapbook Royalty has teamed up with the Fiskateers to "feed our community":

A food drive to feed the hungry.

So from now until June 13th, Scrapbook Royalty is going to be collecting and posing a challenge to you to ‘feed our community.’ Here are the specifics . . .

  • As a scrapbooking community we will gather food and other non-perishable items and donate them to our local community food banks.
  • The members of the charity fiskamittee and Scrapbook Royalty will be setting up dates and locations where food can be donated. We are hoping this will provide a great opportunity to meet with other fiskateers and papercrafters giving to the same cause and to connect. If there isn’t a location near you . . . by all means, set up your own plan to do the collecting in your area and make the drop off to the food bank of your preference.
  • We know the economical crisis is hitting home for so many of us. The Dollar Store is a great place to get canned foods and other items to donate.
  • For example, Cheryl, Lead Fiskateer, will be sending out more details but will be leading efforts to donate to the Orange County Rescue Mission which does a great deal of wonderful work here in Orange County. She is hoping that on Saturday, June 13th she might be able to meet many of you fiskateers at the OC Rescue Mission (have to figure out details) and greet you as you drop off your donation. http://www.rescuemission.org/
  • We will collect and attempt to have a meeting date/drop off date on Saturday, June 13th or otherwise specified. There will be other dates and times you can also participate and donate . . . Maxine Hodges will be collecting during National Scrapbook Day, Sudie and Debby will collect during their SC crop in May. There will be other opportunities as well. Stay tuned here on the front side of the blog, the message board and the fiskateer calendar.
  • After speaking with a gal at the OC Rescue Mission she informed Cheryl that the biggest needs they are seeing at this time are the needs for non-perishable food items such as boxes of Mac n’ Cheese, canned food, cereal, spaghetti and tomato sauce, peanut butter, and pasta to name a few. As well, there is a great need for formula, diapers and wipes (new) as these can be expensive items.
  • Feel free to collect a brown paper grocery bag and craft it to your heart’s delight with a personal message from you . . . as a fiskateer or crafter. Then fill your bag full of groceries. Check out the dates and times (as they are announced) and decide at which time you want to go and drop off your donation.

We would love your support on this! It would be great if you would collect cans in your store, in your neighborhood, or from your family and friends.

On National Scrapbook Day, Pink Pineapple Scrapbooks will be offering anyone who brings a can of food to the store 10% off of any item. Every can of food counts towards more items!
We will also be promoting a drop off party on June 13th at the San Diego Food Bank
9850 Distribution Avenue | San Diego, California 92121
Elena will be there from 10 am till 12 noon with volunteers to collect food and give out fairy fly bys to the first 25 people who bring food to donate.
